There are some song writers that like to make fun out of other songs by changing the lyrics and making fun of the video clips. You can turn just about any song into something completely different but making it similar but hilarious at the same time is a difficult job. Weird Al Yankovic is one of these guys that love to change lyrics to suit themselves and make a few dollars from the funny side of life. just like the Mad comic books make fun of movies then Weird Al makes fun singers and song writers plus bands and their videos. Smells like Nirvana is a take off the Nirvana song Smells like Teen Spirit which came out in the early 1990s when the grunge culture took off quickly and bands like Pearl Jam and Silverchair emerged. On the Nirvana album there is a baby floating in water chasing a dollar bill while on the Weird Al song single CD cover it is Weird Al that is naked and swimming after a donut.

This is just a small example of what Weird Al has done over the years as well as some very funny takes of Michael Jackson songs like Thriller and Beat It plus the Bad album. Weird Al turns Bad into Fat for some very humorous results and Beat it into Eat it which is just as funny as the other songs. He also makes a great effort in producing video clips that are similar to the songs and scenes in the original clips but with his comical twists. Smells like nirvana went to the top ten in many countries around the world which is something that helped Weird Al’s career and status as a celebrity. Like many of his songs there are references to other bands and singers as well as references to the subject matter.

A shot for shot parody of the Smells like Teen Spirit music video was the only way for Weird Al to get his comical message across which is exactly what he did and created a masterpiece of video clip. Weird Al has won several awards for his work in the different parodies and other parts of his music stealing and recreation. Weird Al plays a part in the Simpson’s when he helps Homer get Marge back after they have trouble from Homer joining a Grunge band. You may not know him by name but Weird Al is a guy that is always around making new and funny music clips and videos which are all based on his thoughts about the band or the singer.
